Novena to the Immaculate Conception for Alcoholics: Day 1

Pray daily: O God, who by the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, didst prepare a worthy dwelling place for thy Son, we beseech thee that, as by the foreseen death of this, thy Son, thou didst preserve her from all stain, so too thou wouldst permit us, purified through her intercession, to come unto thee. Through the same Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son, who livest and reignest with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. Amen.

Day One Intentions: For the souls of all alcoholics and addicts who have gone before us marked with the sign of Faith, Eternal Rest be granted unto them, O Lord, and may Perpetual Light shine upon them. May the Rest in Peace, Amen.

Conclude daily: O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you, those who do not have recourse to you, for enemies of the Holy Catholic Church, and all those recommended to you. Amen.

We ask all this in the Name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Saviour. Amen.

Background for this post is right here.

Are you a creative Catholic? "The Catholicpunk Manifesto" is my new book exhorting Catholics to apply their faith to change the culture for the better!

Know someone, perhaps yourself, who might like Catholic devotionals for alcoholics? Please take a look at my books! "The Stations of the Cross for Alcoholics" and "The Recovery Rosary: Reflections for Alcoholics and Addicts" (Thank you!!)

  1. Hello, hello!! Found your post on Facebook from a friend. I need these prayers for my younger brother who just this last week at our Thanksgiving visit told me that he can quit drinking, it’s just a mind thing and that since his bloodpressure is starting to rise, he is going to quit drinking.

Long story, but my novenas, prayers, rosaries, have been in vain so far.

God bless you and I an praying for you and my brother Kevin this novena!

    Hugs!
    Ebeth

  2. Keep on praying. There’s no time limit for prayers, just keep doing it! It is a start that your brother realizes he needs to quit drinking, if he has a hard time of it there is help. Just help him now with prayers and “being there.”
